Doom Syndicate day

At least I hope it is... it's what's marked on my calendar.

Proper/dynamic anatomy just kinda flew out the window since this started as a random thing in my sketchbook and grew into an layer/lettering experiment. o_o But it fits the theme, and that's all that matters, right? ...right?

More arts may pop up on random days since I missed the posting times for the Mia'Vaan and Destructosaur prompts and they're already started.

That's pretty. I wasn't expecting an older woman for Doppler. But I suppose that would explain the white hair. I guess she and Hot Flash are contemporaries. Great drawing. I like the texture. Is this hand-drawn or digital. If it's digital, how'd you do the texture?

The whole thing is originally hand drawn/shaded with pencil and colored digitally. The texture comes from the paper itself. :)

Yeah, I've seen quite a few drawings that I really liked of Lady Doppler where she looked younger. But the concept art from the book made her look so thin and all angles, and just struck me as an older woman. Perhaps not as old as Hot Flash, but not as young as Roxanne.

Okay, so you're doing transparent digital color over a scan of hand-drawn lines and shading, retaining the paper texture. Graphite drawing? Are the lines digitally colored as well, or did you sketch them in color?

I looked at the art book's lady doppler awhile ago. She always looked young but skinny to me. But I think yours is an interesting interpretation and since they didn't get into the movie, it's really open to interpretation.

Exactly, over and sometimes under the lines as well. It's kind of a sloppy trial and error way of coloring. :) The lines are in graphite and I just drew over them digitally to clean them up while I was painting.

Awesome! Lady D is my favorite member of the Doom Syndicate. I want to work with her, but I want to get the Art of book before messing with the DS members at all. I really hope I get it for Christmas!

I felt the same way! It's why I ultimately ended up ordering the art book. It's got some beautiful art in it.
