If some of you know about this, then comment under the cut, but for those who don't...

The CuttingForBieber trend is a strike-like argument for Justin Bieber to stop smoking pot. I had made a journal about this on my DA page, but if you wanna see it here, be my guest.

Cutting for Bieber.

MORE LIKE CUTTING BIEBER'S DICK OFF!

What the fuck is this shit. I went to school the other to find my friends crying over the fact that Justin Bieber is smoking pot now.

ARE U SHITTING ME?

This is just taking it to far right now. You really think Justin is gonna stop his usher-wannabe-little-bitch ass from smoking pot by creating physical harm on yourself, then you need to go to therapy. C'mon we knew the guy was gonna smoke something later on. He just threw his whole LIFE taking that joint in.

Now, I'm not angry with Justin Bieber smoking weed, because that's what he wants to do. He's 18, that's okay. If he want's to sit on his million dollar couch all day and not do shit, then go do you boo-boo. But what really makes me pissed off is HOW MANY MOTHERFUCKING GIRLS HE HAS BRAINWASHED FOR THEM TO CUT THEIR SELVES.

There is a page on FACEBOOK, that has young girl, probably 14 through 17, cutting them selves for him to stop. I'm just really disappointed at these girls, to think if they can stop Beiber from smoking pot.

If you wanna help Justin Bieber stop smoking pot, then do it with out having a knife cut your veins. Make picket signs that say "STOP SMOKING, START HEALING". I know that weed isn't really a drug, but it is physiological addicting.

You can spam my page with stupid comments and say this shouldn't be up, but trust me. I plan on keeping this up, and letting people know that what girls do for a boy is just ridiculous.

Um... First: Weed IS a drug. Not one of the harder ones. But it is a drug. If you choose to do ANY drug, you have to respect it and be aware. It can screw up you life every bit as much as harder drugs. I had a family member who's dead now because of it. Weed is a drug.

Second: Don't most music stars eventually end up on drugs of one sort or another? It's pretty predictable. Who DIDN'T see it coming? Its part of the gig.

Sorry. I just thought that since it's just the buds that was psychologically addictive if burnt, I thought it wasn't a drug. Sorry if I got it wrong

Some fans do, indeed, go to great (sometimes fanatical) lengths for the celebrities they admire. Teen idols must often tread very carefully and remember the old "with great power comes great responsibility" adage. The things they do - or actions taken in their names - can greatly affect impressionable fans.

That said, there was quite a bit about this particular incident on the news last week. The general consensus was that the story was debunked as an internet hoax. I certainly agree with your outrage, crash_child, and I find it particularly horrible that there are individuals out there who would use social media to exploit the vulnerability of young fans - not only as a prank, but especially through targeting those who could be prone to self-harm, which is never a joke under any circumstances.

I must, however, take a moment and don my Mod Hat here, not to spam or to flame, but to offer a gentle reminder to the general community that posts which are particularly off-topic - while certainly worthy of discussion and/or debate - may be best posted in personal journals or blogs, on tumblrs, or in one of the comm's official "off-topic" threads rather than posting to the general community.

By and large, it's more about keeping the comm clean, tidy, and focused than it is about prohibiting off-topic discussion. Undoubtedly, we welcome discussion of all kinds!

Thank you, Sharelle. <3

As for the situation, anyone who self-harms has more to worry about than their idolized celebrities... I don't like the stigma that follows people who self-harm "for attention" because even if they were, there has to be deep psychological pain behind it all. Anyone who would joke about it and try to trick young girls into hurting themselves is a fucking monster, just sayin'.

It's no problem, sweetie. No need to apologize. We love to debate and rant about random stuff here at the comm! (And you're right: it's a subject that would probably generate some interesting discussion.) It was just a little more OT than our usual off-topic posts, that's all.

But we have a more recent Off Topic Thread now! We can rant about anything you like there! :)
