Yes, I'm back -- and this time with something of substance! :D So a little while back someone posted up here what they could make out of the back of the Megamind Unmasked book Megamind was reading in the library with Roxanne, but they weren't able to make out everything. So last night while I was watching the film on blu-ray on my nice BIG 47-inch LCD TV (and squeeing at the big-headed blue hotness on the screen), it dawned on me that I have no problem whatsoever reading every word on the back of that book, so I'm here to share it with you guys! :D Oddly enough, I think this was supposed to be the text for the back of the "The Happiest Me I Can Be" book that Metro Man reads right before he fakes his death, but they probably figured no one was going to take the time to pause and read it or would notice. Guess they didn't count on fans like us! ;D Anyway, this is what it says:

"For those scared off by the seemingly endless self-help road and amenable to New Age philosophy, Coti Hansen, a psychologist specializing in hero and villain therapies, presents Five Simple Steps to Happiness:

The Happiest Me I Can Be. Hansen practices and ardently recommends Meridian Therapy, a technique stemming from acupressure that allows people to decrease their levels of stress without professional help. By tapping on eight different spots on their bodies, practitioners can alleviate anxiety, the impacts of trauma, compulsive behaviors and any number of other difficulties. It also protects you from people [2-3 words missing that Megamind/Bernard's finger is covering] joy."

So there you have it! :D I can't personally believe this text was actually meant to go with the "Megamind Unmasked" book as it clearly states it's about "The Happiest Me I Can Be," but even so it's an interesting peek into the kind of books Metro Man was reading to make himself feel better, especially while considering leaving hero duty. (As an interesting note, the text on the back of "The Happiest Me I Can Be" book that Metro Man reads follows the same format but is simply too small and blurred out to be read; I think they must have wanted to use it anyway and just placed it on the "Megamind Unmasked" book perhaps as something of a nod to what we discover later, or maybe even just for giggles. Who knows, but it clearly wasn't written to go with "Megamind Unmasked." XP) In any case, I hope you guys at least get a kick out of this! Enjoy, and stay awesome! <33

That is so cool! wouldn't this work in cannon with stories? What if Metz and Megs went to a therapy session with this guy and came out with different viewpoints? Megamind could find it a load of unhelpful hogwash while Metro Man feels like pursuing it for his own benefit.

Oh, I know it! I was thinking about that. I mean it would definitely make sense that they would try to send Megamind to therapy in the hopes of "reforming" him, and Metro Man too if for no other reason than to help him de-stress and keep his cool at the end of the day. And I agree -- I think Megamind would have thought it useless and laughed at them, while it may have had a more positive -- and lasting -- effect on Metro Man. Hmmm... Someone should write a fic about this... ;P

I'd noticed the summary switch, (and even used it as a clue on the crossword puzzle that I made for the Advent Calendar back in December!), but I'm super-impressed that you transcribed the whole thing!

Like with the newspaper articles, they apparently just used stock text. We are probably the only group who would think to look at stuff like that!

Good eye, dear! :)

Thank you! I thought you guys might like to see what it said. (I never got to do the crossword, so I didn't know you had it in there; sorry! XD I was too sick with bronchitis over the holidays to really enjoy them or do half of what I'd planned... I wanted to draw the nativity scene with Megamind's people someone had prompted, something I've been wanting to draw since I wrote my fic "Old Friends," or even sooner from the dream that inspired that fic [yep, all I did was write my dream down for it, LOL], but I didn't get to do that either. :( Oh well, what are you gonna do? I guess it'll have to be for next year... Unless people want Christmas art in July, LOL! XD) And yes, I think we are the only group obsessed enough to look for these little details, heh! ;P I love being a Megamind fan!

Okay, I wonder if this was a mistake? This is obviously for the "happiest me I can be" book. Why is it on Megamind Unmasked? ???

I think it's either a joke, a nod to the book Metro Man later reads, or really just filler text they'd already compiled they decided to use rather than writing something new up, LOL. XP Who knows! It's a fun bit of trivia either way though. ;P

It's not quite stock text. It's partially modified, but generally the same as, the text on the back of the actual self-help book Five Simple Steps to Emotional Healing.

Ha ha! I knew this sounded an awful lot like something they may have tweaked from something else! Thanks for sharing that! I never would have found it myself (I just don't read those kinds of books). :)

Hmmmm....further proof that Megamind and Metro Man live in a superhero/supervillain universe. Megamind may be the main villain or the only villain in Metro City, but he's not alone.

Though I suspect Metro Man is the only hero in Metro City. He has to be with a museum being dedicated to him and all the stuff around the city that bears his image and likeness.

Yes, that and if there were other heroes besides Metro Man, Megamind could not have simply waltzed into City Hall to take over the way he did; he'd have defeated one hero only to have to face down another.

Don't you love finding little things like this? ;)

Well...assuming there are other heroes besides Metro Man maybe the reason we don't know of them is because none of them are no where as strong as "the defender of Metro City" and Megamind could have subdued them if they tried to stop him.

Possibly. You never know! ;P

Maybe that's why he took so long between defeating Metro Man and taking over City Hall. Perhaps he had a skirmish with a few insignificant heroes?

It's certainly a possibility; you never know! As I've said, this sort of thing almost begs for fan fiction... LOL! ;P

Maybe one of them would get jealous whenever another hero would try to come in on their little "game".

But it could also be like Justice League. Superman had Metropolis, Batman had Gotham, Aquaman had Atlantis and Swamp Thing had (Houma) Louisiana. Metro Man could just happen to be the hero of Metro and other heroes just stick to their locations.

That's kind of what I'm figuring. If you think about it, the whole battle between Megamind and Metro Man was only over Metro City; not once was either of them concerned about any other city, or country, or the world -- just Metro City. Maybe it's kind of like a turf war or whatever; each hero (and maybe even villain too) has his own territory he protects and they respect the boundaries of the others. That way there's no squabbling amongst heroes over who gets to save the day or what-have-you. ;P

BRAIN BLAST!!!!
A great premise would be that another Hero with his villain would try to battle there as well making Metz and Megs join forces to get them to leave their city.

OH! OH!!! OOOHHHH!!! They find out that their licenses to Protect (Metz) and Destroy (Megs) Have expired and THAT'S why new guys are assigned the city which starts off this whole nightmare!!!

It'd be hilarious if there was a lot of bureaucracy involved and both Metro Man and Megamind had to go through a LOT of red tape to get the news guys out. Like, they need all of these forms to get these other type of forms and they have to dig out their license to Protect/destroy permits and it's actually a whole mess they have to go through. Roxanne has to be called as Professional Damsel in Distress to support these claims, yada, yada, yada...

(the plot twist? Minion is the one who saves the day with fresh, brand spankin' new permits being the organizational nut that he is. New guys are kicked out, and everything goes back to normal with their cards expiration dates clearly marked on the calendar so this will NEVER happen again. Moral of the Story: Renew your licenses on time kids!)

And there is your story outline! >;D *flips desk over and walks out*

Yep...you never know. ;)

Assuming that there is one hero per city or a group of heroes per city, maybe "red tape" issues keep them from getting involved?

Also if a hero or group of heroes decided to throw Megamind back in prison who would watch their city while they're gone?

I have an explanation for it in Chapter 12 of I Don't Want To Be Alone Tonight. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6885085/12/I-don-t-want-to-be-alone-tonight

Ahem...

"...The Consortium was obligated to send a team within 72 hours of any crisis that left the city without protection. Where were you?"

The sidekick, SilverPsychic, answers the villain from behind his partner's back, "We didn't have anyone available until now. June's always a bad month for staffing."

"What?" gasps the reporter and the villain at the same time, both caught off-guard by that response.

Strongman sighs and runs a hand down his face from forehead to chin. "Silver…" he groans.

"Wait, are you saying that the Heroes' Consortium didn't send anyone because they were short-staffed?" Roxanne asks.

"Don't answer that," barks Strongman, interrupting his sidekick before he can speak, "They're the villains! They'll learn all our secrets!"

"She's not a villain, she's a reporter," comments Megamind, then, almost to himself, he mumbles, "Which is actually worse."

She smiles brightly. "So, the Consortium is having staffing problems?" she asks in her most sympathetic voice.

"Not really. It's a scheduling issue," the grey-haired sidekick explains calmly, "Everyone wants to take time off in the summer, but crime actually rises in the summer months. Most of our planning staff is clairvoyant, so we can get by with operating on a very narrow margin, even this time of year. But no one predicted Metro Man's death. The oracles insist that he wasn't fated to die for decades. They're still trying to track down the anomaly. You weren't supposed to kill him yet, Megamind. Do you know what that did to our actuaries?"

"Absolutely nothing," Megamind insists, "because he's not dead." As usual, the hero team ignores the claim.

"So, you couldn't schedule anyone to cover for him?" Roxanne asks, still with a professional smile on her face.

"Not without pulling someone back from their summer vacation," SilverPsychic answers.

Megamind and Roxanne both blink. Megamind, with his giant brain, recovers first, "So, you're saying Metrocity's welfare is of less importance than your members' trips to Disney World?"

"There are rules regarding vacation. As long as a member's time off has been scheduled at least six weeks in advance, the Consortium can't cancel it without their consent," explains SilverPsychic, "Everyone had their leave approved on time. There was no one to pull back."

"And no one volunteered to help?" Roxanne asks. Clearly, she expects better from heroes.

SilverPsychic shrugs, "If we sacrificed our vacation every time the world was in danger, we'd never get a day off."

"Roxanne, do you remember what I said about unions and evil the other day?" Megamind asks casually.

"Yes," she answers suspiciously.

"I take it back," he grins evilly, "All heroes should be union members. It would make everything so much easier for the villains."

First that, that is awesome! YOU are awesome!

Second, the thing that sticks out to me most is: there are hero and villain therapies?! An people who specialize in them?! Bwahahaha, oh my gosh, that is amazing! And actually very informative. It shows that, yes, there are other heroes and villains in this world, and yes, they can sometimes go through the kind of thing that happened to our characters. And also, Bernard is apparently not the only expert on the subject.

EDIT: Of course, this is the part where I read over a few other comments and find out that I am far from the first person to make this observation. Still, the mere existence of hero and villain therapists makes me laugh so hard!
